Dutch Minister of Security and Justice Ivo Opstelten makes his first visit to the United States February 20-24, 2012

Minister Opstelten will hold national and state level meetings on homeland security, law enforcement and the legal system with his American counterparts. During his visit, Minister Opstelten will focus on cooperation between the Netherlands and the United States in cybersecurity, homeland security research and counterterrorism.

In Washington, Minister Opstelten will meet with Eric Holder, Attorney General of the United States; Janet Napolitano, Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security; Robert Mueller, Director of the FBI; and Michelle Leonhart, Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Agency.

Minister Opstelten will discuss cybersecurity and bilateral security cooperation between the Netherlands and the U.S. during his meeting with Secretary Napolitano. On an iternational level, Minister Opstelten will meet with Leonard McCarthy, Vice President of Integrity of the World Bank Group to sign a Memorandum of Understanding to prevent fraud and corruption.

While in New York City, the Minister will meet NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly and the New York Port Authority to focus on policing techniques and countering violent extremism.
